Epidemic strains of hand, foot and mouth disease virus are evolving
Recently, the China CDC Weekly Report released a research study on HFMD viruses, which showed that Coxsackievirus A6 (CV-A6) has become the major pathogen causing severe cases of HFMD in China. This finding is of widespread concern because Coxsackievirus A6, which is associated with severe HFMD, is evolving and is at risk for outbreaks.
